
Mariam Bitsadze
Mariam Bitsadze is a Georgian filmmaker and artist with a background in psychotherapy. She founded 17/07, a boutique production company in Georgia, currently developing several creative documentaries including Sacred Songs, which she co-wrote, exploring Muslim women and the surviving Sufi traditions in Georgia.

Mariam’s work blends fiction and documentary, often reflecting on post-Soviet identity and personal transformation. Her first fiction short, The Feast, starring her mother, won the Grand Prix at the Tbilisi International Film Festival.

She is currently based in Geneva, pursuing a Master’s in Cinema at ECAL/HEAD, where she directed Sous la table during a workshop with Radu Jude. The film is part of the Film Foundry section at Locarno Film Festival 2025, and her artistic and academic excellence was recently recognized with the Prix Jacqueline Veuve.

Mariam is developing three major projects: Sacred Songs (in post-production), a personal documentary about her father, football and Georgia, and her diploma fiction film Spring Fugue.
She is a member of the European Film Academy, Documentary Association of Europe, EWA Network, and serves on the board of DOCA (Georgian Documentary Association).
